Is Breaking News Studio free?

Yes. The Reporter plan is completely free — no account, no sign-in, no credit card required. It includes the full BNS extension with up to 3 saved templates. The Publisher plan unlocks unlimited templates along with premium design features including gradient backgrounds, gradient fonts, custom icon uploads, emoji icons, and additional text styles. Does BNS collect my data or read my posts?

No. Breaking News Studio runs entirely in your browser. It does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data, post content, or browsing activity. Nothing you do inside the extension ever leaves your device.

Does it work on Firefox, Safari, or Edge?

Not yet — Breaking News Studio is currently a Chrome extension only. We hope to bring it to additional browsers in the future.

Does it work on my mobile device?

Not yet. BNS is a Chrome browser extension and currently requires a desktop or laptop computer. We hope to bring it to mobile devices sometime in the future.

What's the difference between Reporter and Publisher?

Reporter is the free plan and includes everything you need to build and post breaking news banners, with up to 3 saved templates. Publisher is the paid plan and unlocks unlimited templates plus premium design features: gradient backgrounds and fonts, custom icon uploads, emoji icons, and Underline and Outline text styles. Why does my banner look cropped in the Bluesky composer?

That's normal for banner-only posts. When you add a banner without a photo, Bluesky displays it as a default image thumbnail in the compose window, which may appear cropped. Your banner will display correctly in the Bluesky feed once the post is published.

Can the BNS banner merge with videos or GIFs?

No. The Image Builder merges banners with static images only. If you want to pair a banner with a video or GIF, post a banner-only image first, then link your video or GIF as a thread reply to that post.
